Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Winchester Police Department is to maintain order, preserve and protect the life, peace and property of the citizens of the City of Winchester, and to enforce the laws within the framework of the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Indiana.  The Department and its individual members will, without favor or prejudice, work cooperatively with the public to provide a safe community and strive to enhance the quality of life of all citizens.

The Police Department will maintain crime prevention as its primary goal while vigorously pursuing those who commit crimes.

 

The Police Department will continually strive to improve the quality of service we provide to our community.  The Police Department and its members will maintain the highest levels of integrity and professionalism at all times. 

 

The Police Department will utilize policing strategies that preserve and advance constitutional democratic values. 

 

The Police Department will seek the input of employees in matters impacting on employee job satisfaction and effectiveness and encourage individual and professional development for each employee.

 

The Police Department will manage its resources carefully and effectively.

 

The Police Department will seek to provide stability, continuity, and consistency in all Department operations.
